About the manufacturer ABOUT SMITTYBILT In 1956, Basil Smith, also known as “Smitty”, started a small machine shop in his garage. Being one of the original four-wheel drive enthusiasts, his chief concern was to develop four wheel drive equipment for trucks and small SUVs (Jeeps). Over the years, Smitty’s son, Tom Smith, worked with his dad and then later at “Smittybilt” after the business flourished. Having been exposed to the four-wheel drive lifestyle his entire life, Tom was able to conceive innovative product ideas geared towards the growing off-road industry just like himself. As the business grew, Tom Smith designed and developed more and more exciting new products including the original “Nerf Bar” side-step and the classic tubular front and rear bumpers that you’ll still see on classic Jeep® builds. Today Smittybilt, Inc. is still driven by enthusiasts developing bumpers, armor, recovery accessories, trail equipment and overlanding products built so Jeep®, Truck and SUV owners can have more fun living the off-road lifestyle. Smittybilt’s team of dedicated engineers designs and develops products at their R&D and Manufacturing facilities in Southern California and rigorously tests those products against normal wear and tear – but more importantly tests their products for off-road use and hazards. From the front bumper to the rear bumper, Smittybilt has the gear to help you get out of your comfort zone and into the outdoors. Smittybilt’s latest innovations like their full line of Overlander Tents and the new Gen3 Winches are perfect to make your next escape into the wilderness that much easier. Easy installation, fast setup and takedown, high-quality durable materials, and over 65 years of experience make Smittybilt a must have addition to your rig. We’re in this so you can get out there!
